Spotting a cycling kit whose design deviates from the typical chook styles (bright swoops and whorls that sear your retina or too-cool-for-school black-on-black) can be as rare as sighting the megatick Pezoporus occidentalis. Leave it to the unabashed Attaquer to burn up a rare exception to this rule with the race-ready Bird Watching Kit.
While it's Australian in pedigree, the Bird Watching Kit has dual-nationality courtesy of its compressive Italian fabrics and manufacture. It's also got an aggressively fitting cut that makes it at home in the Euro peloton, regardless of whether it's on the slopes of Australia's Willunga Hill or Italy's Mortirolo Pass. The kit is dimpled throughout and has long sleeves and legs, both of which features are reminiscent of the aerodynamic kit trending in the peloton. The arm and laser-cut leg bands use stay-put, thin, gripping bands to maintain coverage without constriction and take full advantage of the material's UVP of 50.
And lastly, there's the chamois — the make-or-break for any kit worth its weight in Lycra. It's also Italian, and it features a triple density design that's meant to draw pressure away from the perinea region. In other words, you'll find more support and substance at the sit bones than on the preceding softer tissues. The insert is also had-perforated to dissipate heat and moisture, and friction is nearly eliminated through the incorporation of smooth Italian microfiber that stretches to move with you and babies your skin with a gentle touch.
