From training day to race day.

Assos refers to their FI.Uno S5 Bib Shorts as their "All-around racing and training shorts". Assos takes the hallmarks of the FI.13 S5 and re-engineers them in a way that provides a balance between technical advancement and cost control. They're built entirely of Assos' new A430 fabric, giving you both excellent muscle compression and sweat evaporation. The cutting lines here are less sophisticated as the FI.13 S5, but you nevertheless get superb performance from the fact that the FI.Uno S5 is built in an AEPD design for on-the-bike comfort and has 6 panels to promote muscle support.

The FI.Uno S5 lacks in the curved chamois design of its higher-priced counterparts, but the bib straps pull the chamois into place. And the chamois has the same next-to-skin softness of FI.13 and the FI.Mille, and it also shares the heat-ventilation dimples on the chamois.

The overlocked seams provide cost savings for the FI.Uno, and they have the additional upside of providing excellent elasticity. So you'll save money and be more comfortable. The welded leg grippers are the same story. They flawlessly hold the legs of the shorts in place, but they do so at a lower cost.

If you're looking to experience the handsome fashion and the performance benefits of Assos, but your preference is to do so at a reasonable cost, the FI.Uno S5 is tailor made for you. Yes, it's the least expensive pair of Assos bibs. But if they didn't make fashion sense or technical sense, Assos wouldn't make them. From a bang-for-the-buck perspective, they'll tell you they're the best bib shorts.

The Assos FI.Uno S5 Bib Shorts are available five colors, in sizes Small through TIR.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I ride a lot of trainer miles indoors, and these shorts are comfy, durable, and all around awesome.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have tried numerous shorts and bibs, this one by far is the most comfortable one I have under the $250 range. The fit is great, one simply forget about it during long rides, it is that good!
