That cap, not the movie.

While many apparel brands focus their attention toward creating the best in terms of large core layers, Assos prides itself on doing that, and more. Clothing designers at the Swiss label know the importance of obsessing over the small, yet crucial, accessory layers, which is why they devote a great deal of energy refining fit and overall functions of these items. Such is the case with Assos' extensive headwear collection, with each item designed to keep your head dry and comfortable in specific climates. The Assos roboCap 607 aligns itself within Assos' Winter 6 climaRange, meaning that it's ideal for the 25 to 40 degree Fahrenheit temperature range.

The Assos roboCap 607 was designed to be worn under your helmet when the temperatures fall into that too-cold-for-a-headband-only zone. The cap was constructed with the exclusive Assos RXQ material. This fabric features a dual-layer composition where the outer-layer appears fleecy, and the inner-layer is razor thin. Assos considers this final layer to be a "transportation" textile with the dual purpose of moving moisture away from the skin and insulating. The concept operates on a push-pull methodology, where sweat is pushed away while warmth is pulled in closer to the head. However, none of this could take place without RXQ's hollow-fiber construction. The open cells perform all of the aforementioned, only at an accelerated pace. Additionally, the material has natural antibacterial properties.

Assos applied a second layer of the RXQ material around the ears and forehead, ensuring that these areas stay fully protected from the icy cold air. The roboCap 607 was finished off with a smooth hem, reflective detailing, and a small Assos logo along the forehead. Small elastic loops, called "suspenders" by Assos, were sewn into the side panels to securely hold the arms of your glasses in place.

The Assos roboCap 607 is available in the sizes 0 (48-53cm), I (53-58cm), and II (58-63cm) and in the colors Black Volkanga, Red Swiss, and White Panther.

Here's what others have to say...

Assos yes!

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Perfect for keeping your head (and ears) warm while riding in cool 45-60 weather.

Best thing about this cap? It covers the ears the best of any cycling cap out there! This keeps the cold and wind out.

Also, it's from Assos. So amazing design, contoured fit, looks, and quality of fabric/textiles.

For riding in even colder weather (e.g., 30 to 40) buy a "barrier" cap (like the Assos FuguCap), and a good face mask (like Castelli's Vizo or Sportful's)... or a balaclava -depending upon your preferences.

Sizing: My head is 58-59 cm. I bought the size II. Plenty of room. Fits perfect.

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

This is my fav winter cap. Keeps my sweaty head warm and dry. It covers my ears and I can still hear cars very well. Does run small, I wear a med in women's helmets and I had to get a II in this

Tight and warm

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Very warm cap. Fits quite tight: I was at the end of the range for size I (57.5cm head) and had to go for size 2.
