Warm legs take you farther.

The goal was simple. Improve the comfort, fit, and warmth of leg warmers. An easy task? We doubt it. Leg warmers have been pretty good on all fronts already. It was a puzzle, but Assos managed this feat with their legWarmer_s7 by starting with design. Rather than one-piece and a single material, Assos used multiple panels to contour the muscles in the legs and a mix of fabrics. They also made them side specific.

That's right. There's a left and right leg to these. You'll be able to tell right away because the outsides of each upper portion are noticeably longer then the insides. Greater coverage means more warmth. It also helps the warmers stay up without grippers. They do different sides to each leg with multiple fabrics and careful paneling. The outside panel is made of RXQ fabric. It's light, stretchy, and channeled to trap air against your skin for warmth. RX fabric is a bit heavier and more durable, and it's used on the inside panels. Here, it adds durability against chafing against the saddle. The seaming is offset from the joint to minimize chafing on both the front and the rear of the knee.

Thanks to the generous stretch of the RXQ fabric, there is no need for a zipper at the bottom. Zippers can add a bit of convenience, but often come at the price of more seams that can irritate your leg.

The Assos legWarmer_s7 Leg Warmers are available in the color Black Volkanga and in the sizes 0 (X-Small/Small), I (Medium/Large), and II (X-Large/TIR).

Totally sublime

If you read my reviews you know I don't totally buy into the kool-aid of Assos (or any kit maker). Assos gear is expensive. The marketing is sometimes a little strange. And some items (gloves, shoe covers) aren't quite up to the extreme high standard of the rest of the lineup.

BUT... no one in the sport of cycling designs better bibshorts (!), jerseys, winter caps, and cold weather jackets (albeit expensive). Add Assos s7 leg/arm warmers to their list of greats.

These leg warmers are perfect for cold Spring/Fall morning starts. The feel of the textiles is luxurious (really). The fit is perfect (and R/L specific). The sewing is perfect.

Best of all, is the extended leg design up into the thigh. This allows these warmers to stay up better than others -and- without a band digging unsightly and uncomfortably into your mid/upper thigh. Brilliant.

Note: Put these on FIRST. Then slide your bibshorts over them. Easy.

SIZING: I'm only 5'10" but 185. The size II fit just fine. I was a little surprised. Nicely snug in the leg (not loose). Length was almost too long (but fine). Size II are probably best for riders 5'10"/5'11" - 6'3" (+?).

Assos s7 leg warmers at this price are a steal !!!

    Perfect for me

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs small

I'm so glad I tried this style of leg warmer. They stay up during the entire ride, without any unsightly elastic digging in. They are warm without feeling like blankets, lightweight but don't let the wind in. I think the key is to wear them with properly fitting bibs; if you don't have to struggle a bit to get into your bibs, they may be too loose to keep these up. I'm a 5'3" 117 lb. female and the size 0 is a perfect fit for me; the ankle is tight and the length is exactly right, so that size may not fit many men.

    Love everything about them!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XL

I tend to wear bib tights in the winter, but wanted to try something I could carry with me to put on in case the weather changed. No thigh grippers, not a problem with me. Don't have any problems with them staying put on rides from 25-50 miles. I've ridden with temps ranging from 50-70 degrees and have never been too cold or too hot. With many perfectly placed panels they just seem to work for me.

    Best-fitting leg warmers ever

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Assos just nailed it with the s7 leg warmer. The design eliminates the need for gripper silicon (which tends to rub and cause discomfort in other leg warmers). The paneling design is amazing as well, with seams tracking perfectly around knees, and specific fabrics used to hug muscles. The dimpled fabric traps heat and keeps legs warmer than any other leg warmer I've ever used (regardless of weather conditions).

    Assos leg warmers

I purchased the leg warmers about a year ago, being 2012 and the first time I wore them I had a problem with the right leg warmer. It would not stay in place. They were really warm and I would wear them several more times trying to adjust the right warmer, but it still would just slide down to my knee. I still have them because it hurts to just throw that kind of money away but be warned. The warmers I see for sell now look a little different, but still no grippers.
