Freedom to move, freedom from cold.

If you refuse to let below-freezing temperatures relegate you to the trainer, yet you grow weary of stacking layers upon layers, the Assos fuguJack Jacket makes riding in the bitter cold seem like any other balmy training day.

Hold the Assos FuguJack in your hands and its purpose becomes clear — provide maximum warmth (it's rated for temperatures of 20-40 degrees) with an absolute minimum of volume. Giving you total freedom of movement was also a top priority, as was the ability to regulate your body temperature. The outer-layer of the FuguJack is made from Assos' legendary Airblock 851 fabric in order to provide you with total wind protection. Bomb down a descent on a frigid day and you'll be amazed at how none of the icy air seeps to your skin via the traditional-jacket-weak-points — collar, chest, and the fronts of the arms. Instead, the Airblock 851 material acts as an impenetrable force field against the cold.

The FuguJack was patterned from the Assos AEPD II cut, giving you a quality of fit that you've never before felt in winter cycling apparel. The AEPD II design is the culmination of Assos' efforts to eliminate excess material on the sleeves and chest while you're in riding position. Assos is the first to tell you that high-end materials mean nothing if the cut is bad. That's why it's spent a maddening amount of time on two points of study — how the body is shaped, and how it changes throughout the movements of cycling. Accordingly, the AEPD cut is made for the shape of cycling, not standing (just a little something to remember when you try it on). With the FuguJack, the cut greets the contours of your body and adds a slight compression to aid in muscle recovery and stabilization. It's worth noting that AEPD achieves this without adding a sensation of pressure. The characteristics of AEPD, combined with FuguJack's rear stabilizer panel, literally make the vest 'click' into place for the ultimate in cycling fit.

While Assos' Airjack 851 jacket works exceptionally down to 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the FuguJack adds an extra dimension of thermal insulation by incorporating a microfiber inner-collar that spans from your lower-chest all the way to the top of your neck (much like a turtleneck). Accordingly, cold winds won't penetrate the jacket from the neckline, and given that this material is so light, you'll get this added protection without any added pressure on your chest. Rounding out the jacket's construction are double-layered wristbands, one large back pocket, and two zippered side pockets.

And, for the sake of comparing the FuguJack to the Airjack 851, your selection comes down to one simple question: Do you ride in temperatures below 32 degrees? If the answer is 'Yes,' then you need to take a long, hard look at the added protection that you'll get from the FuguJack.

The Assos FuguJack Jacket is available in six sizes from Small to TIR and in the colors White, Titanium, Red, Black, and Yellow.
