Assos fugu Glove - Men's $0.00
Assos' fuguGloves are their full-on winter gauntlet. They do things that repurposed ski gloves don't do. The biggest thing is that cycling gloves are made to accommodate the sweating that comes with prolonged aerobic activity, but the Assos fuguGloves do more than merely accommodate over-heating digits.
There are many problems with typical non-cycling winter gloves. One problem is that the fabric doesn't usually stretch, which can make holding onto handlebars for long period of time more difficult than it should be. Another is that the insulation is often rather bulky, further inhibiting motion and increasing the difficulty of grasping the bars. Finally, glove's insulation makes for poor padding; it may initially feel ok, but it gets matted down as time in the gloves increases.
Assos solves all these problems with the fuguGloves. They protect your hands from chilly winds and cold water with strataGonLight, a stretch nylon bonded to a waterproof/breathable membrane. This fabric is "smart" in how it closes its own pores in the cold and opens them up when it senses heat, thereby giving you more insulation or more venting when you need it. Inside there is a thin layer of micro-fleece that works great for insulation and moisture wicking.
The fuguGloves have strategic padding on the palms as well as external reinforcing material in high wear areas. There is elastic at the wrist with a zipper just below. The zipper offers several functions at once. It eases entry and exit, it seals your jacket from the cold, and it allows venting to keep your hands from getting too warm.
The Assos fuguGloves are part of climaRange 6, what Assos call Winter. You should feel comfortable in these gloves from 32-46° F (0-8° C) by Assos' estimation. Use Assos insulatorGloves as a base layer and the FuguGloves should keep you warm for another several degrees colder. They come in Black. Sizes run from X-Small to X-Large.

My hands get cold easily, I prefer gloves with fingers, and fit is important. Thus it has been very difficult to find warm gloves that fit well and I have tried a lot of them. I could have saved money by just buying these expensive gloves. You really get what you pay for. In the temperature range they are made for, 32-43 degrees fahrenheit, they are awesome, period.
