The Midas Touch

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Assos chamois cream is the best that money can buy. It has a perfect balance of smooth comforting protection against chafing. Highly recommended.

Good to be Back.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

For several year I have used chamois cream to keep comfortable in bike shorts. I had settled on Assos, as it was widely acknowledged to be the benchmark for products of its type. But this year, I let curiosity gt the best of me and picked up a container from another brand. I was disappointed with the consistency and durability of that product. I used part of the tub but it has been relegated to the back of the medicine cabinet. I'm back to Assos!

Love this stuff

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Like many riders, I've tried many different brands of crème. After wandering through the crème forest I eventually settled back on the Assos stuff. Yes it is expensive, but in my estimation it is truly the best stuff. The thicker consistency is ideal in that it lasts on longer rides and stays where you put it. I ride in really hot summers and freezing winters due to a desert climate, and this stuff works in all seasons to keep my undercarriage fresh. I am worth the extra money darn it!

Could not live without it!

Chaffing is for suckers! Don't be caught out on a long ride without chamois cream. Nothing worse than the feeling of corduroy rubbing between your legs.
Assos is the king of chamois cream. Not overpowering in the tingly department, and lasts all day. If you haven't tried it, treat yourself.

Simply the best

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Two things:
1) ALWAYS use chamois cream and every ride. Always.
2) Make sure it's Assos.
I've tried a bunch of them over the years, nothing else compares. Easy as that.

The Rolls-Royce of Chamois Cream

Let's be honest. Chamois Cream isn't that cool. You shouldn't have an Excel spreadsheet listing the merits, and ingredients of them all. Just find one that works and works well. I've tried quite a few chamois creams but none have stacked up to the feel, texture, smell, and longevity of Assos.

As regular to my morning as coffee

There are a few things that wake me up in the morning; my daily coffee, and the gentle tingle of chamois cream. Assos seems to do the best job!

In all seriousness, I have used everything under the sun, and will always stick to Assos or DZ Nuts depending on what I can get my hands on.

Assos differentiates by being very viscous, so it keeps lubricating for hours and hours, where most others are only effective for a an hour or two. This is reason I always reach for Assos first.

      I've tried about everything.

Florida heat and 100% humidity often = swampy conditions. I've tried them all and this goes on easy (yes it tingles) and just works. Washes clean and holds up for hours. No issues down low.

        Reduce the burn

If you've ever gone for a century ride, or even shorter rides on rough roads you know the burn I speak of. The Assos Chamois cream is the first and only chamois cream I have ever used and it works as advertised. I did not notice any slipping inside the chamois and had no burns. A tad gloppy, but you get used to it. If you ride long distance or often protect yourself! Rather expensive, but worth every cent.

Assos Chamois Creme is the best of all worlds...it is not too thick, not too thin and just the right amount of "medicated" feel. I have tried DZ Nuts and I really liked it but it is SO expensive. I also tried Mad Alchemy but it is very goopy (it feels like mayonaise or yogurt). Assos is almost as good as DZ without the HUGE price tag...even with that said, it is still a little pricy...but riding without chamois creme is NOT an option. Try it, you will like it and learn that you can't live without it.

John, uh...what do mayonaise and what do yogurt feel like on your nether bits? Have you tried riding with yogurt as butt butter, my friend? haha jk funny stuff

          'Taint perfect, but it's close

Assos knows how to make gear. The cream applies easily, smells fresh, reduces friction, and does a great job regardless of how long the day in the saddle is. I'm a huge fan.

The only thing I'm not the biggest fan of, in contrast with some other reviewers, is the tingle. On a summer day it's not unwelcome, but there are times where I'd rather just slap it on and be able to forget it a little easier than I do. Interestingly, balancing it with some Nivea cream seems to do the job beautifully.

Assos Chamois Cream was the first Assos product I purchased, and was a gateway drug into all sorts of other Swiss concoctions — shorts, jerseys, socks, you name it. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

In all types of bibs, in the heat of the high desert - nothing beats it. Nothing!

This is the best and I have tried others in a bind, I now order in bulk. 100 degrees F at 5000+ feet of altitude, after a 50 mile day - no problems.

I know it is a bunch of chemicals, I make my own shaving oils, I tried numerous natural products - Assos chamois cream works better than any other product I have tried and or used. And I remember when chamois was leather.

I don't always use chamois cream...

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

?but when I do, I use Assos.

I would say on average my taint is more sensitive than most. So if I'm going out for a century or all day ride, I take extra precautions by putting some of this stuff to reduce the friction. I invest in shorts with a good chamois and find the Assos chamois cream makes the ride a bit more comfortable.

I've never had an allergic reaction, but after reading one of the other reviews I may pass on using chamois cream in the future do reduce the amount of chemicals put on my skin.

          Stay Comfortable and Fresh

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Pretty good product. There is a slight tingling that dissapates quickly after application. The protection is good and keeps me riding longer. Also it keeps your shorts smelling fresh. I use it less in Oslo Norway where it is cool than in Washington DC during the summer. I don't seem to need it as much.

          Great Cream

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Ive been using this product for a couple of years and love it. It feels great on the skin and stays in place for hours. I will continue to use this for years to come.

Good for summer and short rides

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

It's a lot of tingling. More medicine smell than natural herb smells. Thin and last 2-3 hours; that is why Lance used 1/2 tub on chamois. Not my century ride creme. I really like the rapha creme more than anything else but unfortunately CC doesn't carry it any more. I don't like in colder temps as it gives a rather moderate "cooling" effect. I also like the plain Jane Pace creme also(not the Europe version which has the same tingling/cooling effect as this creme.

          Slight sensation

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I usually apply this on my synthetic chamois after washing so that it remain soft . I have used it several time for my skin and like the slight sensation and cooling effect. It has work for me when I am doing long climb (> 2 hrs) and no side affect. It is rather expensive and too big for travel.

Pretty much the best you can buy

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Assos has always been associated with top shelf quality and this chamois creme is no exception. Easily applied (big mouth container) to either the subject area or on the chamois itself, easily washed off/out of chamois, great "feel" on the bike (i.e., cooling). Depending on how much you apply, it'll last throughout a normal 3-4 hour ride. Great (essential) product for not a ton of "scrillas".

          All natural? Not Really

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Except for a synthetic biocide preservative: methylisothiazolinone. This is a strong allergen and causes contact sensitivity for about 10% of all Americans. This chemical was recently named as allergen of the year by the Contact Dermatitis Society and the Mayo Clinic recently advised people to avoid all consumer products that contain it. It made me very sick for several years until I was diagnosed and treated with cortical steroid injections and a topical steroid 1,000 times stronger than cortisone. I think that my skin will be abnormal for the rest of my life.

Have you every found a 'better' product that doesn't contain this chemical? We would all like to know, and thanks for the 'heads-up'...
