One helluva upgrade.

The Asics Men's 33-FA Running Shoe makes it easier to extend your daily runs with as many miles as you see fit. Built on Asics' Natural33 last, the 33-FA mimics the shape of your foot for a secure fit that still allows toe movement. The seamless upper reduces irritation and friction for going over your usual mileage, and the ComforDry sockliner offers extra cush, anti-odor freshness, and a cooler, drier and healthier environment.

Underfoot, Asics equipped the 33-FA with a, "so-light," Solyte midsole for a surprising amount of cushioning that's sure to last. Asics High Abrasion Rubber makes the sole last a long time too, and FluidAxis grooves align with the joints of your foot for excellent flexibility. FluidAxis also enables the shoe to adapt and respond to your specific running style for a customized performance that you'll notice.

Very well made and comfortable.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

The Asics 33-FA are very well made and comfortable. The construction and design is very good quality. Upper has fused overlays and stretchy but supported upper mesh. The upper breaths well and hugs your foot well. Medium heal to toe drop. They are pretty lightweight for a trainer and can possibly do some speed work in them.

The cushioning is not my favorite but don't let that deter you. Cushioning is very subjective on what fits your running style and physical makeup so you really have to try for yourself if it will work. For me, the cushioning is too soft and I am bottoming out quickly on the strike with these shoes. Made me work harder compared to another pair of shoes I have. I prefer a firmer and more responsive cushioning.

I am 5'7" and weigh 135lbs but have a heavy strike.

I haven't gotten these on the road yet but have been wearing them daily and they are very comfy. I have back issues so I need the extra cushioning these provide.

I've always felt that Asics shoes run true to size, so I buy them with confidence, and these did not disappoint. The shoes felt great right out of the box. The uppers are super light and breathable and the soles provide flexibility and cushion without feeling mushy. One thing I appreciate are the laces that stay tied without having to resort to crazy sailor's knots. The only reason for less than five stars is I can already sense that these are a little light on the durability scale, which is par for the course with most lightweight runners of this type. I just plan for a more frequent replacement interval...assuming I don't get lazy.

First 100 miles

I've punished these shoes another 50 miles through more rain, mud, snow and ice and they have actually broken in pretty nicely. I am no longer worried about the shoe feeling a little narrow. Even through they feel slightly narrow still it has been comfortably so. Only wear I am seeing so far is on the outside heel strike zones and right in the middle of the mid-foot strike zones. No flaws in the upper and now unexpected deterioration that would wouldn't expect from the distance gotten out of them.

I've put a weeks worth of running in these and broke them in with their first 50. I have taken these through ice, snow, rain and mud and they are holding up well. Only thing is, I should have probably gotten them in a 9.5, it's not that they are too short, maybe a little, but they are narrow. I am a little worried that they might pinch the toes if I take them out for any longer runs. So far the are pretty comfortable and I find my stride quickly.

I will try to remember to post a new picture once a week to keep you up to date on their durability.
