Alpinestars Moab Gloves $39.95
Serious gloves for serious riding.
The Alpinestars Moab Mountain Bike Glove is built for exactly the kind of conditions that you'll face in Moab. It's slickrock, it's the desert, and it's completely unforgiving. The double Clarion leather palm with Kevlar landing zones and added palm padding takes some of the jolt out of slickrock landings.Tons of ventilation throughout the glove takes care of some of that desert heat, and the Moab's lightweight durability buys you just a little forgiveness in the harsh reality of high desert riding.

What community has to say
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I've used these gloves all summer and I think they are totally worth the sale price. For trail riding and the crashes I've taken they've saved my hands a few times without any tears. So I'd say the durability is good. Again, for the sale price - steal of a deal!
Good Gloves, Not Bullet Proof Though
These are great lightweight gloves that offer a good amount of protection and comfort. They fit just fine, and look good. I would hesitate to say they are downhill gloves. These gloves are entirely cloth/padding material, which is fine for cross country, but they have no kevlar over the knuckles, which could be handy in a downhill crash. I got them on sale for $20 and well worth it at that price, but for $40 I'd expect them to offer a little more "solid" protection.
If you're looking for something bullet proof for downhill, I'd say look elsewhere, but if you're in the market for something lightweight/breathable/durable for all mountain, these gloves are perfect.
Protective, Breathable, Durable

- Familiarity: I've used it several times
These babies have pads on top of the outer knuckles for when you might punch a tree (or any other obstacle) going through a narrow chute, or cutting a close corner. For this reason I absolutely recommend them to anyone with wide, downhill, or all-mountain handlebars; also if you frequent narrow or unkempt trails. They are definitely breathable for how sturdy the construction is, staying fairly dry even under the Texas sun. The grip is great, and the Velcro wrist straps are extremely sticky and secure. To top it off they look awesome, and have a goggle-wipe fabric across the top of the hand. Look no further for the best all-around glove I've ever strapped on. Get some!
I recently purchased a pair of these gloves to replace my now-discontinued Novara gloves. While these gloves are well made, I found that the thumb was a bit short, and, as a result, the thumb crotch area felt as if it might tear when I opened up my palm. If you have larger palms/shorter thumbs...these are great gloves. For longer-fingered riders with smaller palm, I'd keep looking. 3 stars: good glove, odd fit.
I'm highly impressed with the quality of Alpinestars products and these are a perfect example. They fit great, look great, and are super durable. One nice feature is the padding on the little and ring finger. A lot of gloves out there don't have this. You will not be disappointed with these.
