If you ride your mountain bike with any kind of frequency, ground-induced abrasions just become a fact of life. The only way to protect yourself is to ride really slowly. Since that takes all the fun out of riding, you'll need to go with
Plan B: full coverage. While this may sound hot and unpleasant,
Alpinestars may have the solution. The A-Line Pant provides all the road
rash protection that you need from the waist down. It also fits nicely
over pads, provides cooling air flow, and stretches in all the right
places to keep you comfortable and scratch-free all day.
The
Alpinestars A-Line Pant provides complete leg protection for
ridiculously gnarly descents. The A-Line pant is fitted slim so it won't
flap around while you ride, but easily accommodates your knee pads. The
slim fit also keeps it from snagging limbs and branches and whatnot
while you bomb tight singletrack. A tough ripstop rear panel resists
abrasion for long-lasting posterior protection.
Alpinestars also included two-way stretch panels on the back, in the knees, and in the crotch area for an unlimited range of motion with no binding. Along with built-in stretch, the A-Line keeps it cool with air mesh panels on the upper thighs and lower legs that force air to circulate through the pant while you ride. These vents also allow sweat vapor to escape so you feel cool and dry, even in the heat of the summer.
The Alpinestars A-Line Pant is available in even sizes 28 to 40. It comes in Violet/White, Blue Marine/White, Yellow Fluo/White, Red/Black, and Gray/Black.
