Kick the clutter out of your life.

These days, the current crop of hub standards has made both wheel building and truing a complicated affair. We don't accredit this to our own inabilities, but more so to the dizzying bevy of stand adapters out there. However, with the Abbey Bike Works Truing Stand Adapter you're able to keep your home shop tidy by combining all of the spacers into one simple package.

This includes 12 x 142, 12 x 150, 15 x 100, 20 x 110 and 24 Maverick. It also permits precision dishing without the need to remove the adapter every time. And since the adapter will work without using the threaded stud, truing is now a quick, painless affair.

The Abbey Bike Works Truing Stand Adapter has been precision manufactured from both aluminum and stainless steel.

Great Wheel Adaptor

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This tool isn't that complicated, you have a threaded rod and some stepped end pieces with all the common bike axle diameters, but the fit an finish is excellent. I use this to help build and true a variety of wheels without having to track down the specific axle for each hub or having to mess with clamping and scratching the various hub end caps.

One thing to note is that the adapter adds more width than just using the axles out of a frame. If you're using this tool in an older Park Tools TS2 or similar stand you might run into size issues for fatbike and boost hubs, but this can be remedied using something like Park's TS-2EXT.2. This isn't a fault of the tool, so no stars off what's an otherwise simple functional design.

Simple and very effective.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This tool makes fitting any hub to the truing stand a simple and reliable process. Construction quality is excellent and I was pleasantly surprised to receive it in the dark green anodized color (not the silver color as shown). If you true wheels and have a variety of hubs around, this is a great tool to pick up.
