A fabric as sweet as success.

Have you ever thought about the amount of exposure that you receive over the course of a triathlon? No, not exposure of the red carpet variety. We're talking about the detrimental effects of the sun on your skin temperature. These lead to a rise in your temperature, and thus a rise in perspiration. And the more that you uncontrollably sweat, the closer that you are to bonk town. Lucky for you, 2XU has not only addressed this problem with its Long Distance Women's Trisuit, but it's basically solved it.

So, you might be asking yourself what gives this suit the 'long distance' designation when compared to 2XU's other trisuit offerings? Well, while you still retain retain 2XU's hallmark compressive efforts, the primary composition of the Long Distance is made from the ICE X fabric. This material takes a twofold approach to endurance, starting with its yarn being embedded with Xylitol. Yes, the sugar substitute. And like its application in gum, your skin will receive a cooling rush when ICE X is confronted with perspiration. Basically, the material operates as a refrigerant that rapidly evaporates moisture, then converting it into cool air. So, the fabric counteracts heat by utilizing its byproduct -- kind of like physiological recycling. Additionally, the second approach to endurance is the material's IR blocking properties. This means that infrared light is largely blocked from penetrating the skin. What's infrared? Infrared light is the most predominant form of radiation from the sun's sea-level irradiance. Basically, IR transfers around 16% more heat to the body than visible light. So, limiting your skin's exposure to this energy minimizes spikes in your skin temperature. In fact, 2XU claims that ICE X will actually lower your skin temperature up to 5.4 degrees Fahrenheit.

Specifically placed panels of the Trisuit have also been constructed from 2XU's 70D Kinetic Speed fabric. Basically, the '70D' stands for 70 denier. What's a denier? Simply put, a denier is a unit of measure for the weight of a fabric. Technically speaking, it measures a fabric's grams-per-9000-meters. And while a typical recovery compression piece features a material choice around 200 deniers and up, the Trisuit uses a lighter, less constricting 70 denier fabric. This means that you still receive a lightly focused graduated compression, but the most direct gains are made through limiting muscle oscillation. So, whether you're getting slapped by wakes, getting rattled in the saddle, or pummeled by your pounding on the pavement, the Kinetic Speed fabric provides an enhanced level of muscle support that will minimize fatigue. Additionally, this material utilizes 2XU's turbulent airflow technology in order to minimize drag while you're in the saddle.

For the chamois, the Trisuit features 2XU's Elite LD insert. Developed specifically for triathlon, the Elite LD uses a thin, yet ample, 3mm variable density padding. This design provides the necessary support while in the saddle, but it won't become irritable over the course of your swim or run. In fact, 2XU selected this chamois because of its impressive ventilation and quick-drying characteristics.

To ensure the Trisuit's fit, 2XU placed its own non-abrasive, elastic leg grippers. Entry and exit of the suit is handled by a 3/4 length front, semi-autolock front zipper, and nutrition storage is made possible by three rear pockets. For further comfort, the Long Distance Trisuit features a complete flatlock seam construction. So, you won't experience anymore pinching or painful rubbing over your body.

The 2XU Long Distance Women's Trisuit is available in five sizes from X-Small to X-Large and in the colors Black/black, Bright Emerald/grey, and Indigo/grey.
